Amie's story

Amie is 30 years old and she lives and works in Buchanan, the capital city of Grand Bassa County, which is located by the sea. It is well-known for its beaches and delicious fish. Many logging companies are also based in the city. Residents of the city love eating fufu, cassava-based dough typically eaten with soup or sauce. Most people in the city are Bassa speakers, one of the indigenous languages of Liberia.

Amie is married. She completed 12th grade and has a two-year-old child who is in school and lives at home. For the past four years she has been selling peppers, bitter ball, bananas and oranges, etc. She started this business with a little money from her husband, and she learned this business from her mother.

She likes her business because of the way people respond to it. She spends 8 hours a day with her business, six days a week. Amie is requesting a loan to purchase more goods for her business. She hopes to have more money to sustain her family.
