A loan of $3,000 helped a member to buy more sacks of charcoal and firewood to resell.

Dovya Group's story

Zaituni, who is in her mid-thirties, is married with four children who are still going to school. She has been running two businesses, selling fruits, vegetables and charcoal for ten years now. She works from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a good monthly profit. This will be Zaituni's seventh loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loans to increase her charcoal stock and increase the fruits and vegetables. She started selling firewood and has paid back all her loans successfully. She used the profit to pay school fees, cover household expenses and has almost finished building her house. She will use this loan to buy more sacks of charcoal and firewood to resell. Zaituni will share this loan with her loan group, "Dovya", with 13 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
