A loan of $925 helped to buy vegetables for her business.

Reyna's story

52-year-old Reyna lives with her husband Pedro in her own house. They have eight children, but only one lives with them. For thirty years she has made a living from selling vegetables. For this reason she gets up very early in order to buy vegetables in the wholesale market of her city to sell at retail prices later. Thanks to this business she obtains net profits since the business is very profitable, does not have much competition, and already has a solid client base.

Besides selling her own potatoes, broad beans, and vegetables, which she harvests each season, she also makes cheese with the milk from the eleven cows she looks after. She makes an average of seven or six moulds every day. She also has eighteen rams which she fattens up and then sells to local butchers and inhabitants. This is her fourth loan with Kiva and she promises to be punctual with her repayments. Reyna will invest the 2500 PEN in purchasing vegetables for her business.
