Unidas Por Siempre Group's story

The "Unidas por Siempre" communal bank will start its first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, as part of the Copacabana regional office. It is made up of eight members and led by a board of directors, of which Basilia is the chair.

The businesses that the members of the communal bank carry on are varied, and include: weaving, sale of empanadas, sale of salchipapas (fast food made with potatoes and hot dogs), sale of milk, and sale of food.

The loan they will take out is to benefit small business owners such as Basilia. She states that this is the first time she has belonged to Pro Mujer, joining at the invitation of a field representative of the institution, who came to visit her at her home.

Currently she has a business selling food, and says that she learned this business several years ago with advice from her family. The loan she will take out now is to update her equipment (purchase of pots), which she will acquire in the markets in the city of El Alto, and later install in her cooking area.

This form of work allows her to generate income to support her household as best she can, as she is married and has two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the health workshops and the credit.

In this group: Basilia, Rosmery Rosalia, Juana, Fernanda, Armando Julio , Francisca , Willma, Juan
