A loan of $1,350 helped to buy certified corn seeds for planting.

Alma Yanori's story

Alma is a young woman. She is twenty-five years old, is in a common-law marriage, and is the mother of one son, who lives and depends on her and her partner. She has completed primary school thanks to the support of her parents. Her parents where the ones who taught her to grow corn, beans, and coffee. Presently, she makes a living growing corn with her partner, who is her only support, on a piece of land that she owns thanks to savings and to God. The land is located on the same property where they live. Because of this, maintaining the crops and providing technical assistance is much easier. The customers for her products, once the corn has been shelled and cleaned, are the different small shops and grocery stores in other municipalities outside of where she lives. Currently, she needs help in order to buy certified corn seeds for planting. Through this, she will be able to plant more and her income will be greater so that she can reinvest in her land. Her plans are to improve and fertilize the land that they plant so that the new seeds will stick and their plants will grow healthy and fertile, making it easier to maintain the crops. Her dream, like every mother, is to support her son in his studies. She hopes to be able to send him to university so that he can graduate in a profitable career, and not be in the same situation as her and her partner when they were young.
