A loan of $4,250 helped a member to buy oxen for cattle fattening.

Khady's Group's story

This group consists of 20 women who live in the same village and get along very well with one another.

The group's representative, Khady, is 24 years old. She is married and the mother of two children. She is involved in fattening cattle in her village and she also sells "thiakry" (a type of couscous prepared with milk). In the photo, she is standing on the right-hand side, wearing a dress made of wax-print fabric, and she is raising her left hand.

She plans to use her loan to buy two oxen to be fattened and, with the rest of the money, the supplies necessary to prepare thiakry (millet, sugar etc.).

She would like to reinvest her profits in her business in order to boost her activities and maximize her earnings. She would also like to help her husband cover the daily expenses.

In this group: Khady, Dieyla, Fatou, Siga, Ndack, Fatou, Anta, Ousseynou, Faty, Thiane, Mame Diarra, Awa, Marame, Seynabou, Faty, Khady, Fama, Ndeye*, Astou*, Aminata
