A loan of $150 helped to buy more slippers, body cream etc.

Rebecca's story

Rebecca is a business woman from Liberia. She is married and has four children, aged between 19 and 12. Only two of her children are currently attending school and live at home. She did not go to school, and joined business to make her life easier. She describes herself as working woman.

She lives and works in St. Paul. St. Paul is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find residents living in sub-standard housing.

For the past ten years, Rebecca has had a table business which sells slippers, body cream, etc.. She works ten hours a day at her business. Her greatest challenge in business is a small income. She intends to use the loan to buy more slippers, body cream, etc. She started her business by selling for her mother. She likes her business because she makes more profit. She hopes to one day own a house.
