A loan of $225 helped to buy wood and sacks for charcoal.

Leidy's story

Leidy, 26 years old, is a kind and hardworking woman. She is married and has three children. Currently, Leidy lives with her mother and makes a living producing charcoal. She and her mother rent a small plot of land on the outskirts of the city that has been assigned to make charcoal. Leidy works there every day making artisan ovens in which they use wood to produce coal by inserting wood in the oven for many weeks at high temperatures until it turns into charcoal.

Leidy has been working in this way for a year. She starts working very early in the morning in order to avoid combining her working conditions with the suffocating effect of the day's heat. Leidy gets wood waste from a sawmill near where she works. What she enjoys most about her job is being able to work unpressured and generating her own source of income. She really feels that her work contributes to society. Fortunately, things are going well for Leidy because she produces good charcoal and generates good earnings.

Leidy is very grateful and happy to know that she still has the financial support she needs to advance with her business. She is requesting 600 Peruvian soles to buy wood and sacks for her most recently produced charcoal in order to sell it.
