A loan of $200 helped to buy inventory.

Mable's story

Mabel is a 47 year-old businesswoman from Liberia. She is single and has nine children, aged between 24 and 13. Only two of her children are currently attending school and live at home. She was a college student, and she is good at managing her business. She describes herself as working woman.

She lives and works in Bardnersville. Bardnersville is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find residents living in sub-standard housing.

For the past ten years, Mabel has had a table business which sells palm oil, rice, etc. She works ten hours a day at her business. Her greatest challenge in business is a small income. She intends to use the loan to buy inventory. She started her business by selling for her mother. She likes her business because she makes more profit. She hopes to one day own a house.
