A loan of $150 helped to buy inventory.

Meme's story

Meme is a businesswoman from Liberia. She is single and has three children, aged between 20 and 16. Two of her children are currently attending school and live at home. She did not go to school, but she is good at managing her business. She describes herself as working woman.

She lives and works in Bardnersville. Bardnersville is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for their fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past the Free-port. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find residents living in sub-standard housing.

For the past two years, Meme has had a table business which sells fish. She works ten hours a day at her business. Her greatest challenge in business is a small income. She intends to use the loan to buy inventory. She started her business by selling for her mother. She likes her business because she makes more profit. She hopes to one day own a house.
