Maimouna's Group's story

This group is composed of five women from the same village. It is on its 24th loan cycle. The women have good social cohesion, and they all work in commerce. Maimouna is the group's representative, the one in the photo with her hand raised. She is a married mother of six boys and one girl. The oldest is 35 years old, and the youngest is 12.

Maimouna does commerce in fruit & vegetables. With her loan, she intends to purchase carrots at 30,000 francs, papayas at 30,000 francs, mangoes at 300,000 francs, and beans at 100,00 francs. She purchases her merchandise in her village and then resells them in the capital. She has been in this business for 36 years.

With her profits, she covers her children's schooling costs. She also helps out her husband in covering household expenses and the children's healthcare.
