A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase butane to sell.

Cheikh Tidiane's story

Mr. Cheikh A Tidiane is a retiree who lives in a village in Senegal. To avoid being idle in his retirement, he chose to launch a business enabling him to earn income beyond his pension, so he can continue supporting himself and even attend to his family. He sells butane gas at a spot located near the district market where he lives.

He is a member of the area's U-IMCEC branch where he has already paid back a previous loan. He is requesting a loan of 500,000 francs for bolstering his working capital to purchase butane, which will increase the distribution for his customers.

He is married and helps in managing family expenses. He has several years of experience in his business (selling gas cylinders at the same time). His day starts at 9 AM and ends at 6 PM. With this financing and the revenue increases, he would like to pay for his grandchildren's schooling costs and also to help improve his family's food situation. His wish for the future is to acquire another storehouse and sell butane and gas cylinders.
