A loan of $1,400 helped to maintain her potato, cauliflower and broccoli crops.

Maria Mercedes's story

María is 40 years old, married and a mother to four children. The oldest is in high school while the others are at various stages of primary school. María herself, with a lot of effort, sacrifices and help from her parents, completed primary school. María makes a living growing vegetables such as potatoes, broccoli, radish, lettuce, cauliflower, cucumbers and more. She has been doing this for thirty years, having learned the skills from her parents who did this same work throughout their lives. María is always looking for more opportunities in life. She is not just an agriculturist but has also learned to work as a seamstress, which she does depending on the season.

María is applying for a loan that she will invest in maintaining her vegetable crops as, through this, she will be sure of having a harvest. The loan will allow her to look after the vegetables better.

María's plan for the is to work on her crops with her own capital, which she hopes to earn back 100%, so that she can reinvest and earn more profit. With this she will be able to save in order to support her children with their studies and they will be able to become professionals.
