A loan of $5,450 helped to purchase oils, lotions, and towels, and to renovate her space where she conducts the massages.

Roslyn's story

Roslyn has lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana for many years and understands that everyone needs some rest and relaxation from time to time. As a graduate of Louisiana Institute of Massage Therapy in Lake Charles, the R & R Roslyn is referring to is massage therapy. Since 1998, Roslyn has been a licensed massage therapist in casino health clubs, area salons, and privately for client-scheduled appointments. Her expertise and focus include deep tissue, hot stone, and reflexology massage services. Her journey to Accion Texas Inc. began when she applied, but was initially denied a loan. This did not discourage Roslyn, but rather encouraged her to address the situation and reapply. This time she was approved for a $5,450 loan for her start-up business, Mahogany Body Massage.

Currently, she is the only part-time employee, and has been since the creation of the business two months ago. She anticipates hiring an additional part-time massage therapist to assist with the growing business. Part of the loan will also be used to renovate her space where she conducts the massages and to purchase oils, lotions, and towels for her massage services.

Roslyn is excited about her future, business, and finding that perfect balance in her life.
