Belen of Salimpuno, Pana-on, Misamis Occidental, is a 51-year-old woman earning 6,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) a month from her garden. For two years, she has owned and managed a garden, planting and harvesting vegetables for sale. After joining GDMPC micro credit, she gained access to micro-finance services, and she is now requesting an amount of 8,000 PHP to purchase a variety of seedlings and fertilizer. She plans to expand her garden to multiply her income to have better living conditions in the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
