A loan of $550 helped to buy jeans, men's shirts, creams, footwear, perfume and bags.

Maria Luisa's story

Maria is 47 years old and sells general merchandise, in the municipality of Puerto Colombia. This is a place located on the shores of the Caribbean, where she lives with her two children, ages 21 and 25. Her business experience dates from three years ago, when her brother, who has been a merchant since 1999, suggested that she follow this occupation. She did not start until 2010, and hasn't stopped.

The main products she sells are shirts, footwear, perfume, bags and a line of cosmetics. She sells these articles directly to her clientele and extends credit. She devotes 12 hours a day to her business.

Her goal is to someday open a small store open to the public, and to renovate her home. But her greatest challenge is to increase her sales, because she needs to make a greater investment. This is why she is approaching the institution for a credikiva loan, her first from from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, with which she will buy jeans, men's shirts, creams, footwear, perfume and bags.

With this investment she will increase her working capital and manage greater purchases, in addition to getting fabulous discounts that will be reflected in her selling prices. This will make her investment very successful.
