A loan of $625 helped to buy cosmetics and hair products, among others.

Sol Marina's story

Sol, 65, has been selling products via catalog since 2010 when taking advantage of her experience as a commercial employee a fellow worker proposed that she start selling items via catalog like her girlfriend was doing. Sol then started her own business two years ago and hasn’t stopped since.

The main things she sells are beauty products and toiletries that she sells directly to a clientele consisting of neighbors, family members and referred people who are employees in firms. Her goal is to continue increasing her income but her working capital is insufficient to buy larger amounts which is why she’s asking for a Kiva loan, her first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo by means of which she’ll buy cosmetics and hair products among others. Her goal for later on is to open a storefront and to grow much more to generate new income that will benefit her home.
