Esther's story

Please meet 42-year-old Esther from St. Paul in Liberia. St. Paul is home to the oldest market in Liberia and is known for its fish due to its location by the sea. St. Paul is a suburb located just outside Monrovia, past Freeport. It is one of the poorer areas and you will often find its residents living in sub-standard housing. Esther is married with five children between the ages of eight and 24. Two of her children are in school and they all live at home. Esther did not attend school.

Esther owns her own shop where she sells alcoholic drinks, soap, fresh milk, mayonnaise, butter, and other products. She has had her business for four years. On average, Esther works 13 hours a day and she started her business with money from her husband. Her major business challenge is the rainy season and her favorite aspect of her business is the flow of customers.

Esther is requesting a loan to purchase inventory for her store. In the future, she would like to build a house. Esther thanks you in advance for your support!
