A loan of $875 helped to renovate the awning and upholstery of her motorcycle taxi.

Selmith's story

Selmith is 61 years old and is a hard-working, battling, very happy woman. She is a widow and lives in her own home along with her three children and her small grandchildren. Selmith's work consists of renting a motorcycle taxi. She has a vehicle that she was able to obtain thanks to her savings, and now she has an experienced driver who comes to her home daily to pick up the vehicle with which he works, driving through the streets of the city. She has been working in this area for three years and it is going well for her because it provides a fixed income which helps her to take care of household expenses. She complements this work with the sale of used clothing. What she likes about her work is that she can organize her time and make use of her free time as she likes. She affirms that in this way she can accomplish her role as mother in an optimal manner since she feels that she is a capable and independent woman. Her great dream is to establish a formal business with more productivity in her own home oriented towards the food sector. At this time she is asking for a loan of 2300 Soles (Peruvian currency). She is very happy with the financial help that Kiva has given in order to be able to move forward with her work. She also promises to meet the repayment quotas punctually. With the requested loan she will renovate the awning and upholstery of her motorcycle taxi.
