Malaneh Enterprise Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you the members of the Malaneh Enterprise Group. These are small-scale entrepreneurs, who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to apply for a loan. They requested 1,500,000 SLL for each group member, which they will invest in their respective businesses.

Kadiatu, who is pictured on the right, is the featured leader of this group. Kadiatu is 51 years old, and she is married and has three children. One of her children is still attending primary school, and the others are no longer attending school. Kadiatu sells food at a market – for example, rice and palm oil. She has been doing business for 15 years. She has requested this loan in order to buy a large quantity of rice, palm oil, and other foods, to add to her inventory.
