Tadeo is a 37-year-old married man with 5 children, all of whom go to school. He is a produce trader and does most of his trading in his home trading centre, Kamuzinda Kyanamukaka, Masaka although at times he supplies to Kampala. He says he works 7 days a week. He also has a banana plantation, a retail shop and rentals that can fetch him a good income at the end every month.

He started his produce trading business in the year 2010 and says he has been able to pay school fees and meet his daily needs because of it. He says the desire to take care of his family forced him to start this business and he has reaped many benefits from this business. Tadeo says that his main challenge has been price changes of the produce products and harsh weather that affects the gardens. He describes himself as a hard working man and encourages lenders to reduce the interest rate.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
