Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,200 helped to buy maize, millet and yams.

Kondo's story

Kondo, aged 36, is married to a retired member of the military. She is also the mother of two children aged 10 and 7, who both attend school.

In 1995, she started selling a local drink which is very popular with the local population. This drink is prepared with millet and can be served cold or at room temperature.

In order to maximize her profits, Kondo also sells maize and yams. She buys her supplies in various towns located in the interior of the country and then resells from home.

With this third loan, Kondo will be able to buy millet and yams and increase her current stock of goods.
