A loan of $1,000 helped to purchase shoes.

Ichiaka's story

Ichiaka was born around 1988. Married and the father of one child, he lives with his parents in a traditional family in the Badialan district of Fana, a town in the Koulikoro region of the Republic of Mali. Ichiaka has been doing well trading plastic shoes for almost two years now. He is on his sixth loan, and all the previous ones have been fully repaid - often early.
With this new loan, he intends to buy fives bundles of plastic shoes from the wholesalers in Bamako. These shoes will be sold in Fana market under a canopy, and some will also be sold in the surrounding areas on their respective market days - to both male and female customers.
He plans to make a monthly profit of 90,000F CFA, part of which he will use to cover the family's expenses with the rest invested back into his shoe selling business.
