A loan of $750 helped to buy organic manure.

Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth, 28, is a responsible woman living with her husband and five-year-old son in her parents’ house. Elizabeth and her spouse have been working in agriculture for the past ten years on a piece of land her parents passed down to her because she’s the only girl among her siblings. As time’s passed and with profits she gradually earned she bought two more parcels of land where she’s growing organic cocoa beans; profit from them is her family’s main source of income.

Her work consists in providing adequate care for her crops so that at the end of the growing cycle she will succeed in selling the dry beans to local buyers who pay final prices according to the quality they find. Because of this she fertilizes her farmland with organic manure. Since she spends most of her time at work her mother helps her care for her little boy.

This is her second Kiva loan and she feels very grateful for the financial support provided to continue with her work. She hopes to get 2,000 new soles to buy organic manure to nourish her plants.
