Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $275 helped to increase her current inventory levels, hence allowing her to sell greater quantities of rice.

Aba's story

Although she has received no prior formal education, Aba is an entrepreneur. She specializes in selling rice in Esiam (near Cape Coast). She has been involved in this enterprise for 2 years. Aba is married and has no children. Her husband works as a farmer. The proceeds from her business normally go towards helping her husband cover the family’s general expenses. Aba wants to use her loan to increase her current inventory levels, hence allowing her to sell greater quantities of rice. In the long term, Aba plans to reinvest future profits into her business, thus helping her expand and meet the needs of rising customer demands.
