Nana Ekua

Ghana
Abura, Ghana / Grocery Store

A loan of $275 helped to purchase more groceries to sell.

Nana Ekua's story

Even though Nana Ekua grew up in poverty without an education, this has not stopped her from fulfilling her dream of achieving a better life for herself and her family. Currently, Nana Ekua is an entrepreneur. She sells groceries in Brasi (near Cape Coast). Her business enterprise has grown substantially since she began three years ago. She uses the income from her business to help her husband raise their two children.

Nana Ekua has identified that there are growing demands among consumers for her products. Nevertheless she is unable to meet their needs due to limited inventory capacity. Thus she aims to use her loan to purchase more groceries to sell. With the new profits from her expanded business, Nana Ekua wants to buck the trend by ensuring that both her children will be given the opportunity to further distance their family from poverty.
