Veronica

A loan of $575 helped to buy packaging for cakes and others sweet things, and special containers for parties and events.

Veronica's story

Verónica is 43 years old old and lives in the beautiful, historic city of Cartagena de Indias on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. She has been a businesswoman for six years, having started her own little business venture because she needed an income. Verónica has had good results. In the beginning she had very few customers but, little by little, she started to gain ground on the market for disposable cutlery and crockery, such as cups, plates, bowls, forks and spoons. Now Verónica has her own premises and her main customers are restaurants, neighbours and passers-by. Customers pay cash but Verónica makes her purchases on credit. She is currently applying for a Kiva Loan - her first with the "Fundación Mario Santo Domingo - which she will use to buy packaging for cakes and others sweet things, and special containers for parties and events. Verónica's future goal is to increase her sales by 20% and, on a more personal level, she is getting ready for the birth of her child next year. We expect Verónica to be successful with her Kiva investment as she is experienced, disciplined and has the capabilities to do this work.
