Milvia's story

Milvia, 26, is a single mother of two daughters, to whom she gives all her love. She lives with them in her mother’s house and she struggles to get ahead. Milvia sells traditional foods, such as “juanes” (rice wrapped in leaves), “patarashca” (fish wrapped in leaves), “tacacho” and other preparations that are popular in her city. She starts working very early in an establishment she rents in a popular commercial area. She used to work in the front porch of her house, but given the high demand her preparations have, she decided to open a small restaurant and follow the road to success.

Milvia has had this business for two years and her sister helps her. She likes her job, because she can generate the income she needs to help her mother with the home expenses. This time she is requesting 1,000 nuevos soles [PEN]. She feels happy knowing that she has the financial support she needs to continue pursuing her goals. With the requested amount she will buy, little by little, all the ingredients she needs to prepare her food, such as rice, plantain, legumes, meat and fish.
