A loan of $550 helped to stock her store.

Merlin Maricela's story

Merlin, 46, is single due to widowhood. She has five children in her care and she lives in the municipality of San Francisco, Atlántida. She started a business raising and selling cattle and pigs. Six years ago she opened a small grocery store to earn extra income to support her family. She sells lard, flour, sugar, coffee, bread, salt, beans, condiments, soft-drinks and others. She also raises pigs to sell. She’s decided to request a 10,000 Lempira loan to stock the store with more basic staple items like basic grains, dairy products, soft-drinks, packaged snacks, lard, sugar, cleaning supplies, etc. to meet customer demand. Her plan is that the business grows and to be able to give her children quality of life.
