A loan of $525 helped to buy rice at wholesale.

Dora Yannin's story

Dora’s a young worker living in the city of Granada. She’s married and the mother of one son. She owns a basic grains stand.

She started the business with help from her uncle who suggested that she sell basic grains so she could support herself since her grandmother who had raised her had died. Her uncle gave her her first sack of rice to sell. Now, she’s been selling rice, corn, beans and wheat by the pound for ten years. Her husband works in construction and this is how the two of them get ahead day to day.

She needs credit to buy rice at wholesale. The loan will make it possible for her to buy at a better price and to store it for the winter because during winter the price rises and she will be able to buy it before this price rise takes place. She’d like to have a wholesale food distribution center.
