Amtul's Group
In this Group: Amtul , Bushra, Asiya
Amtul is a 33-year-old woman who is living in Punjab, Pakistan, with her husband and three children.

Since 2000, her husband has been running a handbag shop, which is the only source of income for their family. They belong to a poor family and his income is inadequate to run the household.

As a member of a three-person lending group, Amtul has requested a loan from Kiva's partner Brac Pakistan. The loan will help her husband to purchase rexine (leathercloth) and canvas sheets to make bags to sell. As they have no other source of income, with the help of this loan, her husband will be able to grow his business.

Amtul dreams of the higher education of her children. She hopes that the financial issues of her family will resolve soon and she can start putting aside savings for her children's education. She is grateful to Kiva and BRAC Pakistan.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
