Sochea is 36 years old and married. She is the mother of two children. To make a living, she and her husband have been farming rice on two hectares of farmland for several years and supplement their family’s income by working for others for a fee. The current business earns her about 30,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs.
Sochea is with VisionFund for this loan cycle. She is applying for a loan of 4,000,000 KHR from VisionFund. With this loan, she is going to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use another portion of it to spend on labor fees. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her crop yield so as to make a better living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
