A loan of $1,150 helped to pay to fertilize, water, and harvest his crops.

Luis Gerardo's story

Luis, 36, is single and lives in the city of Camaná. He is friendly, hardworking, enthusiastic, and determined to get ahead. Luis was unable to study agronomy as he wished because he lacked money and had to start working at an early age to help his parents. In his free time, he likes to play soccer with friends and occasionally prepare a delicious traditional chicken dish to share with his family.

Luis farms on his own initiative and with dedication. He has a small plot where he grows squash. He works in the field every day for about 10 hours. Luis enjoys his work and thinks it is going well because of his experience and kindness toward others.

Luis thanks the Kiva lenders, whose help will allow him to cover the costs of fertilizing, watering, and harvesting his crop. Luis expects great sales from his squash harvest. This will let him keep working and striving to achieve his great dream to increase his output.
