Samuel's story

Samuel is 59 years old and married to Amelia, age 55. They live in a rented house with one of their children. Samuel is a hardworking man who has spent his entire life in the agricultural trade. He and his son head toward their fields in the early morning hours to care for their animals and look after their corn crops. In order to complement his farming activities, Samuel and his wife decided to open a business of selling food products as a way earning additional income. The store is located in their home. They started this business when one of their children decided to study in the city of Tarapoto. Since they did not have enough money, Samuel and his wife decided to open a grocery business and begin selling corn in bulk so that they could have additional income to pay for their son’s studies.

This is Samuel’s first loan with Kiva and he is very grateful for the financial support he has received. Therefore, he promises to be punctual with his loan payments. The amount of 2,000 PEN that he requested will be used to buy food products such as rice, sugar, milk, and other items.
