A loan of $425 helped to buy organic compost.

Dionicia's story

Dionicia, who is 59, is a happy and hard-working woman. She lives with her husband, Martín, with whom she has 9 children, but she cares for only 2 of them in the house that she inherited from her parents [and has lived in] since she was born.

Her work centers on raising cows. She comments that since she was little, her parents raised cows of good quality. Thus she continued with the family tradition. She has 8 cows, 4 in production, and the remaining 4 are pregnant and are now dry. For this reason, she collects 30 liters of milk a day. She receives her earnings weekly. But apart from this, she has broad hectares of agricultural land, where she plants natural and fresh pastures to feed her animals. "The zone where I live is characterized by livestock raising, and so I also rent the pastures I plant to other people. It is profitable, especially in the summer," she confirms. It is for this reason that now she wants to improve her areas of pasture and increase her number of cows.

This is her first Kiva loan. She is grateful for the support she will receive, since she will be able to improve her income thanks to the financial support. In addition, she promises to be punctual in making her payments, since she always works with effort and integrity. Dionicia will invest the 1100 PEN in the purchase of organic compost to nourish her plantings of natural pasture to feed her cows.
