A loan of $1,150 helped to buy more furniture and other scholastic materials for the school.

Agnes's story

Agnes is 50 years old and lives in the town of Lugazi in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is single and has one child. For the past 24 years, Agnes has been working hard to manage her nursery and primary school, where she's a teacher by profession.

To help expand her business, Agnes has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more furniture and other scholastic materials for the school and will help Agnes to generate greater profits and take care of herself and her child. Agnes hopes that in the future she will be able to live a good life.

Agnes is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs, like Agnes, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
