A loan of $1,025 helped a member to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her farmland.

Ren's Group's story

Originally from a village of the Moung Russey district where rice farming is a common way to make a living, Ren is a 39-year-old and she is a widowed mother. Rice farming and sesame planting are the main sources of the family’s income; she has been doing this work for 12 years. The current business earns her about 23,000 KHR per day and she manages to save about 15,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

This is the second microloan for Ren with Kiva’s partner and she completely paid back the first loan. Ren successfully used the loan to better support her family. Now leading her group of three to apply for a loan, Ren will use her portion to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income from her rice paddy so as to improve her standard of living.
