Vanna, a married mother of three children who lives in the Doun Keo District of Takeo Province, is 42 years old. She is a rice farmer and her husband is a paid construction worker in the local area. Having been in this business for 22 years, she is able to earn about US $20 a day, and she manages to save about US $7 each day after daily expenses.

Vanna joined VisionFund, Kiva’s partner, this cycle as a first-time borrower. She is now applying for a loan to pay for her daughter’s university tuition. She hopes this loan will enable her to continue her daughter’s education until graduation, as well as relieve her family's financial burden so she can sustain and grow her business.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
