Sindjiya Group's story

The members of Sindjiya Group are married woman who average 34 years of age and 4 children. They live in extended traditional families in the Fana-Coura neighborhood in Fana, Koulikouro Region (second administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The got acquainted through bonds of kinship, neighborhood and friendship. They sell food products, soaps, clothing and juices, and are seeking their third solidarity loan (group loan). Mamou is the woman in the center of the standing row. She intends to buy two kilograms of meat, about ten loafs of bread, and half a liter of oil, to make sandwiches that she sells near Fouta High School, mostly to students and to other people. She foresees turning an average monthly profit of XOF 20'000 (ca US$ 40) to be used in part to provide for her family, and in part to reinvest in her business.
