Evelyn's story

Evelyn is 33 years old and lives in Montserrado County, the number one commercial county in Liberia. She is a married and has two children, ages 8 months and 11 years old, the older child attending school. Evelyn is a high school graduate and she describes herself as a very hard-working woman. For the past 10 years, she has been operating a business selling rice, charcoal, oil, etc. around the local market. She started this business with money given to her by her husband who sells fire-coal by the bag. She enjoys her business because it enables her to earn money. She sells six days a week, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and most of the time she uses the bus to get her goods to her selling area. She is requesting a loan to purchase more inventory such as rice, charcoal and oil for her business. She plans to build a house and educate her children.
