Tuti's story

Tuti lives in the town of Vahdat. She is 50 years old. She is married and has one son and one daughter. Her son is married and lives together with them. Yet at present he is temporarily outside the country as a migrant worker.

Tuti is a seamstress by trade. For eight years she has been embroidering women’s shawls. Four times a month she buys fabric at the market, brings it home and embroiders shawls, together with her daughter. Afterwards Tuti brings completed shawls to different markets in town for sale. Tuti is taking out a loan in order to purchase fabric and expand her business.
