Heylin Julissa
Heylin has been a merchant for four years, along with her husband, so that they can improve their quality of life and give their children a better future. Her husband works in a private home and helps her with all the household expenses. With her earnings from her clothing sales, she was able to buy building materials to build her house. It’s difficult for them to save all the money at once because of the various expenses they have. This loan will allow them to buy building materials such as cinder blocks, sand, cement, iron bars, etc. She is grateful to AFODENIC for the Kiva funds they are providing.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
