PUCALLPA, Peru / Grocery Store

A loan of $850 helped to buy snacks, rice, sugar and bread, among others.

Digna's story

Digna, 39, is an enterprising woman who very much wants to make progress. She’s married to Rubén and they have three children together who are 24, 21, and 11 years of age respectively; she lives in her own house with her entire family.

Digna works selling groceries among which are rice, sugar, milk, bread, eggs, oil, vegetables and others. She has her store at home and she’s open every day full-time. She’s been in this line of work for two years.

She complements the grocery sales with clothing, shoes and cosmetics sales. What she enjoys about her work is that it leaves her with time to do other things among which are her main household chores. Fortunately, she does very well because she always has customers thanks to the variety of goods she offers and because she’s the only store in the area.

On this occasion, she will ask for 2,200 soles to buy snacks, rice, sugar, bread, eggs, milk, oil, vegetables and others.
