A loan of $2,825 helped to order more empty bottles and drinks for her container.

Phares's story

Phares is 60 years old. She runs a Micro-Distribution Centre (MDC), where she sells Coca-Cola products at wholesale to local retailers and customers.

Phares enjoys running her business because she sees it as a way to provide a service to people in her community as they do not have to use any transport money to get to her container to purchase drinks for resale. When asked what challenges she faces in running her MDC, Phares says she does not have enough empty bottles and so cannot order as much stock as she would like to. She also struggles with transportation from her house to her container, as there is quite a distance between the two places.

When Phares gets her Kiva loan, she will use it to order more empty bottles and order more drinks for her container. She is hopeful that this will give her business the boost that it needs.

Phares’s biggest dream is to become the biggest distributor of soft drinks so that one day her grandson can take over the running of her business. She thanks the Kiva lenders.
