A loan of $1,150 helped to buy clothes and cosmetics.

Martha's story

Martha, 31, is married to Nicanor and they have three children; they all live together in a house of her own. Martha’s work consists in selling clothes and cosmetics. She heads out every day seeking customers who for the most part are friends, neighbors and family members. She’s been doing this work for five years and has always worked alone.

When she started the business she didn’t do too well because she’d just wait for customers to come to her house seeking her goods but that didn’t work out because she didn’t sell the amount she wanted to. In time, though, she learned that in order to be successful in this type of work she had to go out looking for customers and have sales techniques with which to convince them to buy so she could sell enough to obtain good profits.

On this occasion, she will request 3,000 soles and she’s very happy to have economic back-up to continue making progress towards her goals. She commits, therefore, to be punctual with her payments. She will use the requested amount to buy merchandise composed of clothes for children and adults as well as some cosmetics like perfume, lotions and face creams she needs to continue with her work.
