A loan of $700 helped to buy pesticide, herbicide, seed, and soil amendments.

Rufino Alfredo's story

Rufino, 53, is married and has three children. He lives with his family on a plot of land he rents from a family member.

He has worked in agriculture his whole life. It was his father who taught him to grow corn, beans, and sorghum. He gets his agricultural inputs in a city nine kilometers from his house. Sometimes he and other farmers share the transportation expenses for a private vehicle.

The loan he's requesting from Fundación Campo is to buy pesticide, herbicide, seed, and soil amendments to weed and break up the land for planting corn and beans. This way he'll have the money to buy all the inputs he needs at the right moment for planting and getting a very good crop.

He wants to have more land to grow more, because his crop is for family consumption and also for sale. From that sale he earns the income to improve his family's living conditions.
