Petrona Irene's story

Petrona is a humble businesswoman, owner of a tortilleria. She lives in Managua, is mother to one three-year-old child. She began her business due to the need to obtain income for her home since that of her husband was not enough. She began with a pound of maize and wood. At night, she sells fried plantains with cheese as another way to get income. It is in this way that she earns daily life.

She needs the loan to buy maize, wood and lime, main ingredients that she uses to produce her tortillas. She wants gradually to improve the roof of her kitchen where she makes the tortillas, to buy a table and an industrial kitchen.
