Peru
Jauja, Peru / Butcher Shop

A loan of $400 helped to buy meat at wholesale.

Nilda's story

Nilda, 34, is an unassuming woman. She lives with her husband, José, with whom she has four children she cares for in a house she’s rented for the last 10 years. “I work at many things, I’m a Jane of All Trades,” she affirms.

Nilda starts her day buying meat at wholesale to then sell it to meat merchants in various markets in the city. She affirms that this is productive work because meat is consumed by everyone and she’s paid instantly. She also sells cheese.

This is her first Kiva loan and she’s grateful for the opportunity she’s being offered to continue making business progress. She promises to be punctual with her payments for she’s always been an honest, responsible person. Nilda will use the 1,000 soles to buy meat at wholesale.
