A loan of $400 helped to by clay to make bricks.

Jesus's story

Jesús, who is 41 years old, is a very hard working woman. She has been a widow for two years, at which time she started taking care of her three children on her own. They live in the house she inherited from her mother 18 years ago. When she was very young she learned how to make bricks with much care. She was born and raised, being surrounded by this type of activity.

She told us that since she was a young girl she proved herself to be a persistent woman and dreamed of having her own brick factory. When she started her family, she opened a small factory which today is now one of the biggest factories in the area. She said that she makes a few thousand bricks a month and sells them in in various cities close to her home. Now she wants to improve the quality of the bricks, which would help her to increase sales in private institutions.

This is the first loan she has taken out through KIVA. She is thankful for the opportunity she has been offered to continue moving forward with her business. Jesús will invest 1000 nuevo soles in the purchase of clay, which she will use to make bricks.
