A loan of $450 helped to buy a 12-chicken charcoal roaster.

Haider's story

Hayder, 23, works making and selling fast-food, an occupation that generated his own way of earning income as of March, 2008 when he inherited it from his father; he also worked as an employee in similar firms. Finally, with his savings and with family support he started his own business venture where he works from 5 in the afternoon until midnight Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays. He sells his products to his main customers who are his neighbors and passersby.

He’s applying for a Kiva loan, his first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to buy a 12-chicken charcoal roaster. With this investment he will widen his scope of products because he currently only sells hamburgers and pizza. His goal is to become well-known in the marketplace and to complete his professional training because he’s currently still finishing high-school.
